Freedom from Religion

Yes, this country and others need to stop this ridiculousness of trying to combine religion and government into some mash up monster. To be honest, this US government was built on the idea that government should be free from religion. It might seem such a small detail, but it shows a rather interesting correlation. Not a direct one, but rather interesting one.

http://youtu.be/VdtwTeBPYQA

Well whether you agree with that fact or not, I right now. I really don’t care. I not here to talk about freedom from religion in that kind of idea. I am talking about our future generations. The little brothers can sisters we have. Those pesky children even though fight with all the time but care about in the end(I thought I would never say this :P).

http://youtu.be/jmuy0BS40g4

Most of you might recall this video of a toddler singing “Ain’t No Homo Gonna Make It to Heaven”. This video cause many disturbances over different communities, but does this kid know? Does he have any idea of what he is saying?

These innocent kids, who just learned 1 + 1 = 2, are not capable of determining what is moral. They are essentially emulators of their parents. If parents are allowing this to the little kid, what would they be lead to believe. Today, it might have been just a song, but tomorrow he could be brainwashed to think this is true.

There have been alarmingly increasing suicidal rate among teenagers, especially with GLBT students. If that wasn’t enough evidence for you There have been incidents among young teenagers and kids, who are led to believe that these extreme views are true and killed their class mates for “the glory of God”

These events should have been enough warning to show us that religious extremists should not be presented to little kids to prevent further damage in society.

Any kids shouldn’t be allowed into church, temple, or any religious place until they are at least 16.

Why 16?

16 is a number where most if not all, have gone through puberty, and most of them have developed a sense of morality in their own terms based on what they have experienced through out their life. This allows for students to choose whether they should follow the doctrines of the religion they are presented with.

I weep for the future of mankind. I hope we can do better than out parents. I know we are capable of doing such miracles.

My CBA :P

So As usual there was big essay assignment and I am gonna put this one up as well

The greatest inventor of our generation, Steve Jobs, loved to quote Pablo Pisscaso, who said, “Good artists copy, but great artists steal. ” Although this mantra might have helped Jobs become successful, it’s still important to try to respect others’ patent rights. Most governments around the world have patent offices to approve new inventions and other advancements in many areas to protect the inventor’s right. This power, in the US, lies within congress, and it has yet to update these outdated laws. In the last few years, it has become clear that these out dated Patent laws are festering the progress of technology. These so-called Patent Trolling sue other companies for settlement money or elimination of competition. Such vile acts should be addressed by reformations of the Patent laws.
Despite the ubiquity of electronic devices, patent office and many law makers seem distant from the everyday technologies used by average users. If anyone with common sense were to goes through the library of Patents approved, it is clear that some if not most patents are puerile. In fact, some patents can be made from technologies that exist, then to be used to sue the emerging industry. In another recent Patent Troll, fark.com was sued by Gooseberry Natural Resources which claimed a patent for “emailing new releases”. Of course fark.com wasn’t the only one sued. Yahoo, MSN, Reddit and other services were sued as well. Although these bigger corporations settled out of the case, fark.com was able to fight as one major flaw. The definition of news in the mainstream media is Press Release. fark.com was fortunate enough to win the case, but the patent troll, Gooseberry Natural Resources, have “won” some of the cases. Because most if not all cases are non-disclosure agreement, the Patent Troll claim that it has won the case.
This under-appreciated power of congress has became a problem to the hi-tech industry. Patent Trolling is a tactic in which corporations with, large library of Patents, sue others to eliminate competition by claiming patent infringement. Within the last few years, there has been an increasing number of law suits between technology companies, most of them started by Apple. These law suits happen because companies are approved of patents that can be interpreted too widely or simply ridiculous. A Taiwanese company, called HTC, was sued by Apple recently for infringement of 20 different patents. Although most of these claims were dropped, one patent, so-called “data tap”, which allows the user to tap a phone number, email, or other data to perform an action, also known as hyperlink on the Internet. As a result HTC was banned from importing of most of their devices including their new upcoming line of products. HTC has reprogrammed the user interface and this new program has been approved by the U.S. Customs. In the end, all Apple was able to do was render the experience worse for the user. Quite frankly the damage done by the Patent trolls are around $500 Billion to the U.S. economy, this is way more then terrorist costs which is around $128 Billion.
Although some progress were made to rewrite small part of Patent laws, the important goal is to re-examine current patent library to clean out of patents that are simply not creative enough or misused by the patent trolls such as Apple, and Gooseberry Natural Resources. They are using these patents to kill innovation. It might seem simple reformation of the laws might do the job, but the problem with reformation of patent laws is that two major innovative industries Medical and Hi-Tech are at odds. Medical industry wants more protection for the inventors, while Hi-Tech industry want the protection for the producers. This allows the Patent trolls to sit between the lines and sue companies out of existence as Apple’s former CEO Steve Jobs wanted to do.
These patent law suits create negative cycles. People end up having to pay more expensive hi-tech devices because of licensing fees; as fewer people buy these devices, less innovation can happen without the resources. In the end, the customers have to pay for devices that will be expensive and less innovative just like the case of HTC Vs. Apple. “Don’t negotiate with terrorists; patent trolls have done more damage to the United States economy than any domestic or foreign terrorist organization in history, every year.” (Drew Curtis) We have come so far within the last few years the speed of the innovations was too fast of the outdated laws to catch up. It is now that law makers should sit down and figure out new laws for the new era.

Think about you

I find subconscious to be more powerful than any other psychological part of our human mind.

Sometimes we have those moment when we are going somewhere and don’t really know why we are going to that place. In reality, we know where we have to go, school, work, or home, we just consciously don’t want to, but the repeated processes of going somewhere has turned us into automatic robots going really no where.

If we are robots without much thought in life, aren’t we no different then a slave of our mind?

If out mind dictates where we want to be at certain time, then do we have free will at all?

Religion would say that We all have purpose on this horrid land, but if we aren’t allowed to think for ourselves by us. We don’t know what we are doing, and we don’t have much to offer the world.

As much as I hate to quote clichés “We all have something to offer the world”

but there is a crucial part that no one acknowledges or implied to only the people who knows, “Before we offer something to the world, we must think for ourselves” never to back down when people tell you are wrong, at the end of the day you can go back.

Never follow but lead your own life

Devil out 🙂

Spider Vs. Beetles

Remember back in April when Starbucks and bunch of other companies who uses “Organic” food dyes were caught using small bugs found in Africa or South America?

Well my friend and I got into an argument on what bug they used. I saw that it was a Spider.. while my friend believed it was a Beetle.. Well we are kinda both wrong.. One website suggests that it is not a Beetle but doesn’t explicitly state that its spider, and from the looks of this bug it’s not a Spider either… Many websites refer it as Parasite (well Wikipedia and other bit more reliable sources does).

Why did I bother to research about the stupid bug?

I love Starbucks’s Strawberry Frappuccino.. (I didn’t have one for long time cause of this I recently had it that’s why I got into this argument)

Although I understand Vegan’s and Veterinarian’s concern for their choice of food, I think that there is nothing wrong with it. I don’t see any kind of festering situations because of this. Few cases of Allergic reactions were reported, but that is too small for the larger mass to turn to other alternative. The only two alternatives are derivatives of tar..

To be honest, I am rather relieved to know that I know what makes the drink pink. I don’t believe ignorance is a bliss most of the time and this is one of them. I really hope that Americans can care more about their health and make many food processing corporations that might be good as Starbucks or bad as McDonald to come clean about what they use in their food.

How to Save them

I hate to admit but those companies that are dying right now, I will miss them.
There are methods to keep them alive for a bit more time, so I am gonna try to see if I can come up with scenarios to save these companies

1. HP

HP is still one of the biggest PC manufacturer, but two years ago HP bought Palm for few million dollars to be part of Plam`s WebOS devices.
The purchase was not a mistake as HP knew lot of good hardware designing and have done some Mobile development with Microsoft’s long dead Windows Phone 6 (Could be earlier versions).
So where did they go wrong?
Remember March(I believe) of last year? HP had this crazy fire sale of their HP TouchPad. Well the TouchPad was design to be great competitor to the original iPad but came out after iPad 2 came out…

After this fail HP went through some cleaning and hired new CEO. This CEO doesn’t seem to be qualified CEO as she was a former candidate for Californian Mayor.

Up to this time The new CEO have made some choices that I think could help HP temporarily

I believe in order to save HP

  1. They need to refresh and clean up their line of Devices.
  2. WebOS should be developed faster to make sure Devs adopt the system before it’s too late
  3. Re-enter the Tablet market

I said devices, Yes, young folks HP makes phones Calculators and more than you think. HP has the ability to make better devices.
Remember Android back in Dounut (for all you non-geeks out there it should be the HTC hero or G1 on T-Mobile), no one really expected android to be the market dominant Mobile OS. So if HP can redo WebOS well enough (I believe WedOS just needs few polishes here and there) HP can somewhat emulate Google.

2. Yahoo

This is just sad, I kinda liked yahoo. They are gonna die because they have a deal with Microsoft to help Bing and eventually integrate into Bing.

I don’t have power over this

3. RIM

If u are one of the few Crackberries, u would be happy to know that they are coming back, but you are gonna get over it because they are getting rid of the classic BlackBerry keyboard. The only thing we can hope is that their BlackBerry OS 10 (or what ever it is) is gonna be good

It’s needs to be

  1. Touch UI focused
  2. Should be easy to develop apps for

Current problem with BlackBerries are that there aren’t good apps for the phone because the phones the RIM hasn’t made popular touch based phone so making apps for entirely different environment for Devs like me is painful process

There is quick and dirty way RIM could do to save itself, Patent trolling. Research In Motion is one of these few original Mobile phone companies that has accumulated enough important patents that they can troll around with.

If u want my opinions on other companies I will be more than happy to do them

In few weeks I will have one about Apple.

Update on Turnitin.com

So if you remember this post

https://drluciferz.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/black-boy-essay/

I posted my essay on her before submitting my essay on Turnitin.com to test its legitimacy
I don’t really have problem with the service but with budget cuts in school I believe my school is wasting money with the service.

The service depend on user submission and search results online.

Well, by doing this weird experiment, I was able to conclude that turnitin.com’s algorithms are not wrong?

This is a service many school pays a lot to catch plagiarism. A student just simulated plagiarism yet I haven’t been caught?? I wonder how many kids got away plagiarizing.

This clearly shows that those who got caught are just unlucky ppl…

I don’t know what to say any more aside from I should probably let school, turnitin.com and other places know my findings.

What is your opinion on this ridiculous experiment??

Black Boy Essay?

Hellos

I occasionally post my school essays here and here is my recent one with Book called Black Boy by Richard Wright

I have two reasons for this post

  1. I havent posted anything in a while
  2. I want to see if Turnitin.com actually works (I think its BS)

Here we go!!!

Everyone should “try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value” as Albert Einstein encouraged us to do, but that isn’t always easy for a black boy living in the South in the 1920’s? Richard Wright certainly did. In his autobiography, Black Boy, Richard goes through many hardships such as the heart attack of his mother and his move to Memphis that shapes him into the man he becomes. Although countless hardships hit Richard, only a few truly significant events turn Richard into the man of value that Einstein believes to be the man of true success.

At an early age, Richard starts developing into better man. When Richard is seven years old, his ill mother had a heart attack. At such a young age, such an event can be a permanent shock to a child, especially when no one assumes the father figure role. However, Richard responds to this situation by becoming a young responsible young man. “[He] decided to sell [his] dog Betsy and buy some food”(pg. 69). Richard later worked for white families, and still managed to become valedictorian of his class despite his busy schedule. Adjusting to this new role at such a young age was hard for Richard, but it makes him a better person.

Richard, after his graduation, gets tired of his life in Jackson, with harsh segregation, runs away to Memphis to escape the racism. Here he learns that segregation still exists, but he works harder to bring his mother to Memphis. “[He] saved each penny [he] came by, living on a pint of milk and two sweet rolls for breakfast, a hamburger and peanuts for lunch, and a can of beans“(pg. 226) Richard further develops his ability to become independent and responsible even in different environments.
After trial and error, Richard saves enough money to bring His mother and his brother to joins Richard in Memphis. Soon after Aunt Maggie also moves to Memphis after her husband who has abandoned her. Richard, as the oldest man in this broken family, takes responsibility and starts raising money to move to Chicago. They soon realize that they will never be able to reach Chicago at the rate they are saving up, decide to send Richard and Aunt Maggie. At such age Richard is able to handle such huge responsibilities as a father figure of his family.

Richard’s level of responsibility is hard to find. Throughout his teen years, Richard, instead of giving up on his life, was able to create each obstacle into positive upbringing and becomes responsible young men. He was able to take care of not only himself but also his family members.

Hope you enjoyed it 🙂

Hey Mr. Lowery Am I gonna get in trouble for this??

The Great Pissing Contest

The Great Pissing Contest

Patents has always been big trouble factor in new technology.

Within last few years there is increased amount of law suits by big patent giants like Motorola, Microsoft, Apple, and others.

The only people who are rejoicing is the law firms in Seattle, Silicon Valley, New York and few other places.

These law suits are not easy to follow and many juries and judges probably don’t know what they are dealing with.

I find most of these patent infringement law suits to be just ridiculous.

Last year, this patent trolling, as some journalists put it, started with Samsung Vs. Apple over in EU.

The law suit is over who has the rights to lock screen. Ya Apple apparently hold the patent for “Unlocking a phone by dragging an image:, and Samsung made witty counter attacks with a scene from 2001 : A Space Odyssey.

Both companies are still in courts, in Germany, although the initial ban of sales of Galaxy line of products has been lifted somewhat, its long way from settlements in any shape or form.

Speaking of last year law suits. Google and Oracle is about half way or little less done with their case.
Oracle has claimed that Google has used some of its Java APIs to create Android platform. Now to some this doesn’t seems important since the OS is written in Linux kernel, and Java Oracle has some jurisdiction over this OS, if and only if Android has used a part of API that is not for public use. Today jury has decided that Google has infringed copy right protects Java API, but hasn’t decided on the damage Google caused by Android OS.

All this trouble for 9 lines….. But I understand that Google is creating lot of revenues from Ads, Apps, Music, Books, and Movies that its selling through the Google Play store (formerly known as Android Market). Oracle would get a lot of settlement money from this law suit.

These two are only major ones, I estimate about 5 to 10 more law suits that probably was behind door and settled quietly.

This is no different, Motorola and Microsoft began the year with law suits.

Motorola has claimed that its patent that allows Wi-Fi streaming has been infringed by Microsoft’s Windows 7 Media Center and XBOX 360. Now you might be asking yourself how did Motorola have these patents in first place? Motorola is not just failed Mobile device company, it also controls a lot of cable box that we use today.

Just like most law suit Motorola and Microsoft is going to be like a cry baby in front of the court until they get tired and settle for few million pay out.

These patent trolling isn’t helping new technology to emerge, because patents laws weren’t fitted out for this century.

1. The number of patents over lap each other
2. The use of patents are clear enough but if any similarity is found law suit can be initiated
3. Many patents are ridiculous as “Unlocking a phone by dragging an image”
Here is few links to few ridiculous patents
http://news.yahoo.com/three-ridiculous-patents-holding-apps-back-163900534.html

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/8975419/Technology-patents-useful-and-ridiculous.html

We need new laws to govern the emerging technology. patent can do that, but we need new laws to govern the use of patent and copy rights.

Last Time I heard anything about reformation of Patent law was last summer, UK has worked on new patent laws to stop the trolling.

Here is overview of all things patent

P.S. – If these law suits are ridiculous enough for you. Hasbro (The owners of Transformer franchise, as far as I know or care) has sued Asus for naming its tablets Transformer, Transformer Prime, and Transformer Pad. I have no idea what is going on with these two companies, so leave a comment if you know anything about it. I’m too lazy to look it up.

Some shitty poem

Ya I am depressed to death again
I seriously don’t know why I haven’t killed myself

For the broken hearts
Needs new heart

For the broken promise
Needs new hope

For the broken minds
Needs new brain

For the feared people
Needs new brave hearts

What The Fuck

Our life is the story of
Wizards of Oz

So where is the Emerald City
So where is the Wicked Witch of the West

Where is the Hope given to Dorothy
Where is the Bravery given to the Lion
Where is the Brain given to the Scarecrow
Where is the Heart given to the Tin-man

Well, We don’t get one in real world
Well, We don’t have one in real world

So then Why do we keep walking
