Black Boy Essay?

Hellos

I occasionally post my school essays here and here is my recent one with Book called Black Boy by Richard Wright

I have two reasons for this post

  1. I havent posted anything in a while
  2. I want to see if Turnitin.com actually works (I think its BS)

Here we go!!!

Everyone should “try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value” as Albert Einstein encouraged us to do, but that isn’t always easy for a black boy living in the South in the 1920’s? Richard Wright certainly did. In his autobiography, Black Boy, Richard goes through many hardships such as the heart attack of his mother and his move to Memphis that shapes him into the man he becomes. Although countless hardships hit Richard, only a few truly significant events turn Richard into the man of value that Einstein believes to be the man of true success.

At an early age, Richard starts developing into better man. When Richard is seven years old, his ill mother had a heart attack. At such a young age, such an event can be a permanent shock to a child, especially when no one assumes the father figure role. However, Richard responds to this situation by becoming a young responsible young man. “[He] decided to sell [his] dog Betsy and buy some food”(pg. 69). Richard later worked for white families, and still managed to become valedictorian of his class despite his busy schedule. Adjusting to this new role at such a young age was hard for Richard, but it makes him a better person.

Richard, after his graduation, gets tired of his life in Jackson, with harsh segregation, runs away to Memphis to escape the racism. Here he learns that segregation still exists, but he works harder to bring his mother to Memphis. “[He] saved each penny [he] came by, living on a pint of milk and two sweet rolls for breakfast, a hamburger and peanuts for lunch, and a can of beans“(pg. 226) Richard further develops his ability to become independent and responsible even in different environments.
After trial and error, Richard saves enough money to bring His mother and his brother to joins Richard in Memphis. Soon after Aunt Maggie also moves to Memphis after her husband who has abandoned her. Richard, as the oldest man in this broken family, takes responsibility and starts raising money to move to Chicago. They soon realize that they will never be able to reach Chicago at the rate they are saving up, decide to send Richard and Aunt Maggie. At such age Richard is able to handle such huge responsibilities as a father figure of his family.

Richard’s level of responsibility is hard to find. Throughout his teen years, Richard, instead of giving up on his life, was able to create each obstacle into positive upbringing and becomes responsible young men. He was able to take care of not only himself but also his family members.

Hope you enjoyed it 🙂

Hey Mr. Lowery Am I gonna get in trouble for this??

Fight!

You see, your fight for survival starts right now. You don’t want to be judged? You won’t be. You don’t think you’re strong enough? You are. You’re afraid? Don’t be. You have all the weapons you need. Now fight. – Dr. Vera Gorski(From Sucker Punch)

I love my family….Not really most of my family members including cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents are Christians, so if I wish to speak out my mind about anything one of the two things happen. Either I am ignored, or I am told I don’t know anything. Basically I am ignored 100% by my family member when it comes to these serious talks.

I get it what I say is devil’s words and they don’t want to listen to say of the stuff I say, but if you are truly a person of this Earth. Anyone who is smart enough will buy my argument that a healthy argument can lead to better knowledge, and understanding of the subject, even if you think you know everything. So why is it that people doesn’t want to talk about religion? Why is it so hard for people to sit down and have a clam conversation about God and his meanings written in Bible so hard. I have had it up to my head with people who will just plainly ignore any statements, and conjunctures about religion. I hate that I must shut up about what I believe it’s not only violation against my free-speech rights(If that even matters in Asian cultures), but also its harmful to them as well.

My sister does this all the time. She plugs her ears when I am about to rant about how much i hate religion. I do have to give her some slacks cause she is bit young, although by her age I was thinking about converting my belief to Antagonism then. But when I am talking to people like my aunt and uncle I don’t want to be told that I am simply too young to understand. I am turning 18 in 6 months for god shake. I think I know enough to talk a thing or two about God. I mean I have this blog right? I don’t always make sense, but I to raise valid point here and there. So why is society ignoring religion, giving it an impunity from being criticized.

But its all comes down to this. You are the children of God. So why be afraid of a human being, by ignoring me you have acknowledged that you, yourself doesn’t fully believe in god.

No matter which side you are on, the battle has started.

WE are all WRONG……

“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”

Albert Einstein

I have always believed that Science should work to prove that Atheists are right, but after reading this quote the purpose I had define Science with has become an enigma to me, why does Science has to battle Religion?

Groundswell made by the Theist and Atheist are simple vituperative statements to bring each other down, and sometimes people like me, who are irascible, rants on about how Science is superior to Religion

But Science is nothing more than the study of nature and its building blocks, and Religion is no more than a moral guide written millions of years ago by some random dude or by “God“. So how it is that these to groups, Atheists and Theists, try to incriminate one another.

Both comes in nice dapper books, the penchant toward one subject or the other is made due to what you see or more importantly how you see the world. Only remnant list of things are found common between the two. there is no way either of the two views can accost each other of wrong doing. Both have dearth of evidence to prove each other completely wrong.

we have a predilection to preemptively not listen to other side of the story,

So where do we draw the line between, Science and Religion? This isn’t that hard. Simple infuse the practices of the two. Follow the moral values given by the religion of your choice, and create an eccentric list that seem paragon to you, and practice the scientific logical reasoning on day-to-day basis.

For centuries Science and religion has tormented each other, and that only caused fiasco in relationships among families and friends. We must stop this diatribe and work together and one big society.

This is not just a simple trivial matter, this requires much more attention that most of our friends and family are giving. We should be able to relish our lives on the face of the Earth, not fight till you die. All that will do will lead you to the life of forlorn. I been there, it’s not fun unless u enjoy them as much as I did.

Even after this epiphany I still firmly uphold my view of being Anti-religious, but now I will do so in more cavalier ways.

Last thing, if you have known me in the last few years or so, I have been a strong non-conformist….. I just compromised, I just made a RADICAL change in my opinion. Am I completely right? I don’t know, but I do know that This would allow me to create a life style that will make euphoria out of two completely unrelated instruments.

Radical ?

I posted about this few weeks ago, I think.
If I did I probably pointed out that this book is pretty much the guide-book to hypocrisy. So this week “my church” is starting the radical lessons.

Luke 9:57-62
in short the STORY is about 3 guys who is willing to follow Jesus, if he was real, no matter what.

1st guy says he wishes to follow God, but “Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

Well, if he isn’t from this world and from heaven, isn’t that bit arrogant. I mean not all of us can get there right?? -Wink- 😛

So, apparently Jesus is uncomfortable on the face of earth
Wow lol.
Hey Jesus I don’t like the face of Earth either, so Can i join your little club?

Ok…….

May be I am just being cynical right now, back to sermon. 🙂

2nd guy wants to bury his father before following Jesus.
Jesus replies by saying he shouldn’t put family before God..

Why? apparently he knows everything you need and family isn’t it.
Sure family can be annoying and sometimes get on your nerves…-achm-, but you got to love them for even tolerating all the shit you do.

3rd guy says he will follow, but wishes to say good-bye to his friends and family.
And even him Jesus says that anyone that looks back isn’t good for heaven

I do have to agree that being nostalgic isn’t good for anyone. Honestly if I was to kept looking back I wouldn’t have the strength to keep living.

Overall I can’t agree with 2/3 of these points of being christian. I think the meaning of being christian is no longer with us. Everyone is different, and trying to bind the society with one topic is impossible. Let alone trying to introduce God, whom we don’t even know if it exists or not.

I want to end randomly with few songs I have listened to a lot.
Teenagers/Sing – My Chemical Romance
Stronger(What doesn’t kill you) – Kelly Clarkson

I been listening to the song with one thing i my mind. I don’t give a shit what people have to say about me.
Seriously though, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and sing for the deaf and everyone else even if they hate your guts. 🙂

Foolish enough to fall for yet smart enough to know

https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/1IAhDGYlpqY?version=3&hl=en_US

This video to me in very intriging in a way that this video points out that there is fallacies within the religion and the chruch.

but what is stopping this person from just making this video and not taking any actions? Isnt he also responsible for covering up somethings.

I have seen my friends share this on theri wall and praise it highly, yet fail to follow.

I honesly dont think this video will effect me at all, or other for that matter.

I just glad to see that some realized thier own mistakes.

Fomr other stand veiw point, this video show how religion adpats to out culture. This video is not only able to present a probelm and a solution to the problems. in that this marks the changes that will gradually happen over time as the transistion to the ne generation, our generation, happens.

Accepctence, to many things that religion has not approved before in order to “survive” another decade or so

(Update) After posting this one of my favorite Youtuber posted a video about it and what he sees in the vide.

He has vaild points dont just not watch it cuz he swears a lot

Conformity by the religion

Conformity of religion

Conformity in our society wasn’t made through our minds and out belief
Simply making a decision based on what others do Religion is no exception Christianity for example has been around for very long time
How did it survive all these years??
It’s simple it changed with the culture of each era even decades
The perfect example it the new movements inside the belief of Christianity of accepting LGBT community just few years ago it was a impossibility but in the last 2 or 3 years Many things happened “Don’t ask Don’t tell” policy was taken down California and New York approved Gay marriages.
So really is religion rigid? Or does it look like it
Not convinced?

Take morality for example many Christians believe that morality is Objective But if the morality is objective I should have been killed for disobeying my parents and other sins I might have caused 0-0
Then Christians will say “That’s old testaments, we don’t follow that anymore” Wait what?? Isn’t God always right?? So he is wrong ?? that’s something to say
Consider the following videos for more explanations

Confromity in our society

I am not having the best summer in the world but it’s ok
So I just got asked by my SAT teacher to write if education brings conformity or brings freedom

I said that it ought to bring freedom and even if school try to make u conform to what ever they taught u can rebel against the school to from a free thoughts

Away from that I think our society has lot of conformity integrated into our life. As an atheist I am asked constantly to become Christian I will never conform to the belief. Over the last few weeks I am formed more Humanistic belief that out society can live with out religion and that belief was made when I read the book A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Conner I haven’t finished the entire book yet but expect a review shortly ^^

Plz shared this on ur Facebook twitter I need more people visiting
Thx
